Sodium Bisulfite , or NaHSO3,is a chemical sanitizer, preservative and
water dechlorinator. It is a combination of sodium, hydrogen, sulfur and
oxygen. It is also called sodium hydrogen sulfate, and is classed as a
sulfite, or sulfur-based chemical. Its natural form is a white crystalline
powder, but turns yellow in solution. It is acidic, considered corrosive,
and is a powerful reducing agent used in water treatment, textile dye
preparation and film development, but most people are more familiar with its
use as a food additive.
Sodium Metabisulfite is used during the deliming process and helps to
prevent formation of toxiz ydrogen sulphide gas during deliming. It also
acts a bleaching agent. It makes leather soft, well-developed, tough
waterproof, anti-break, wear-ability and etc.
Ultramarine Blue is Synthetic Inorganic. It is a blue pigment of sodium
aluminosilicate containing sulphur. It is prepared by heating kaolin, sodium
carbonate, sulphur and other inexpensive ingredients together. It is heat
and alkali resistant. It is used for optical whiteness in plastics, rubber,
inks, paints, cosmetics, detergents, cement, textile and paper.
Potassium bisulfite belongs to the sulfite group of preservatives.
Sulfites are characterized by containing sulfur and oxygen. Potassium
bisulfite is also referred to as potassium metabisulphite or potassium
metabisulphite powder. This preservative is found naturally in wine. Known
as an antioxidant preservative, potassium bisulfite has some antioxidant
capabilities, meaning it can fight inflammation causing free radicals in the
body.
